World Kata Championships return to Japan

Next week the World Kata Championships will take place in Kyoto in Japan at 19 and 20 October.

It is a special event: after four Championships organised in Europe, now the Kata Competition will be organised where Judo was born, in Japan.
The organisation is expecting 109 pairs from 31 nations coming from the 5 continents and 31 IJF Kata Judges are registered for the Competition. EJU is considered as leader in Kata. Yearly the top in Kata is gathering at the European Kodokan Course where also the Japanese masters visit to judge and raise the level.

Europe joins the championships with 16 Judges, 15 Nations and 54 pairs 7 of which are medallists of the World Kata Championship 2012.

Kime no kata: Blas-Uchan ESP & De Martelaire-Inghelbrecht BEL
Kodokan Goshinjutsu: Gonzales & Verano ESP

EJU Vice President Franco Capelletti who is also Director of the IJF Kata Commission is satisfied for the high level reached in Kata Competition and the excellent job done by the EJU Kata Commission in these years.
